Upon seeing Remy enter, Audrey remained silent with a stern expression.

Remy sensed that the atmosphere in the room was different, and knew that Elisa and Audrey probably had another quarrel while he was seeing Julian off.

He pretended not to know what was going on and walked back to Elisa. He told Audrey, "Mrs. Stone, Julian has left."

After pursing her lips, Audrey finally replied, "I see. Did you ask him what he meant?"

"Julian did not speak the truth."

Remy answered honestly, "He asked us to keep it a secret from Mr. Bucham, so as not to let him come and propose marriage."

Audrey teased him, "You're honest to a fault. Parroting whatever Julian said without missing a word. Aren't you worried I might agree to Mr. Bucham's proposal?"

"Mom."

Elisa immediately spoke up. "I only love Remy. We are in love with each other. Even if Mr. Bucham comes to propose, I won't agree. You marry him then, if you agree to his proposal." Audrey was silent.

Elisa took out her phone and called her father. When he answered, she said, "Dad, where are you? When are you coming back? When you come back, please buy Mom a bouquet of flowers, a set of jewelry, and a new bag to make her happy."

"Elisa."

Audrey chuckled. "I'm not envious of you at all. Darrell, don't listen to whatever your daughter says. Just come back home safely. You don't have to buy anything. We are an old couple. What do we need flowers for?"

It was not even their wedding anniversary.

Only on her birthday or their wedding anniversary would Darrell be romantic and give his wife a bouquet of flowers and jewelry.

"Old couples need romance too. Dad, Mom takes good care of herself and looks like my sister. If you don't have a romantic bone in you, then be careful of the old men out there who are chasing after Mom. You will be jealous."

Audrey replied, "You're getting out of control. Get your impudent *ss out of here. Remy, take your girlfriend out. You two can eat out, we haven't cooked anything at home."

She figured Remy would fetch her daughter from the airport. She also thought that since they had not met each other for a while, they would definitely go to a hotel and have a meal together. She thought they would return late at night.

As it turned out, the two came home from the airport right away.

She knew that it was because of Julian's sudden appearance.

"Are you trying to kick me out, Mom?"

Elisa ended her conversation with her father. Sulkily, she stood up and pulled Remy along. She said to her mother and Alice, "Mom, Alice, both of us are starving, we'll go out and grab something to eat." As she finished her sentence, she hurriedly ran out with Remy in tow.

Alice watched with a smile on her face.

As they got out of the house, Elisa said to the man beside her, "Please pay Julian no mind, Remy. He's just messing around. I won't fall in love with him, and neither will he fall for me, so don't worry." Remy held her hand tightly and said in a deep, husky voice, "No matter if he's serious or not, I won't let go, Elisa."

She said that if he stayed, then she would not leave.

He heard that as well.

He felt the same way. As long as she did not give up on him, he would not leave her. Even if she wanted to give up on him, he would still try his best to save the relationship. "Don't take my mother's words to heart. She actually thinks highly of you."

Elisa pulled Remy toward his car. She spoke up for her mother as she was afraid that Remy would resent her mother. After all, he was only met with disapproval from Audrey.
