Chapter 1780

Duncan immediately hurried Liberty to handle the discharge paperwork.

The doctor whined in his head, 'The doctors and nurses have enough of your daily fuss anyway. The early discharge is not a big deal, so you can leave if you want to.' The Lewises were wealthy, and they had their family doctors. The Lewis family would hire specialized care for Duncan when he got out of the hospital.

"Doctor, is my son fine to be discharged?" Mrs. Lewis was worried that her son's condition may worsen after the discharge.

"Mr. Lewis can be released from the hospital if he wants to. He might feel better recuperating at home. The speed of recovery is linked to the patient's moods too."

Since the doctor said so, Mrs. Lewis told the bodyguards to pack up while she and her husband went to deal with the paperwork for

Duncan's hospital release. Duncan, the tantrum thrower, was left in Liberty's care.

Now that he could get out of the hospital, Duncan felt merry and quit whining. He sat in the living room of his ward and quietly watched TV while waiting for his parents to handle the release documents so he could go home.

Liberty sat next to him with something on her mind. Duncan kept an eye on her expression.

Out of the blue, he asked, "Is your ex-husband still alive?"

"He is."

Duncan pursed his lips and commented, "He's lucky." Liberty fell silent before answering, "The doctor said that he sustained severe injuries, and he isn't out of the woods yet. He's transferred to the ICU unit for further evaluation. The doctors have tried their best, and it's up to him now whether he can regain consciousness."

"What happened for the wretched couple to actually get violent with each other?"

Duncan's tone of voice reflected sarcasm. He had witnessed Hank and Liberty's journey before and after the divorce. Hank was good to Jessica, and after what happened to Liberty, Hank would go to bat for Jessica every time he came to visit Liberty.

Despite the incident involving his son's safety, Hank still wanted to protect Jessica. It was enough to say that Jessica was Hank's true love.

"I don't know. It happened so suddenly. Apart from the people involved, no one knows the reason behind the attack."

Duncan was without a word.

There was a knock on the door.

The door to the ward was pushed open.

"Mom, Dunc," Sonny cheerfully greeted.

The sound of Sonny's voice softened the tension on Duncan's face.

"sonny."

Liberty hugged her approaching son and turned to Zachary, who entered the room behind the boy. Zachary explained, "Sonny said he missed Duncan and was hell-bent on coming to the hospital. Since we were on the way, we just came here."

"Duncan."

Zachary drew near to his best friend. "How do you feel today?"

"Zachary, I can be released today. My parents went to get the procedure done. They are helping me to pack up my things. I can leave the hospital at last. I'm really going to go crazy if I have to stay any longer.' Probably because he was allowed out of the hospital, Duncan did not give his best friend an attitude or refuse Zachary from entering the ward.

Even though Duncan had refused to meet with anybody, Zachary and his other friends came and went as they pleased since the day

Liberty forced her way into the ward. Every time Duncan made a face at them, Zachary would challenge Duncan to stand up and kick them out on his own.

The anger tempted Duncan to jump to his feet and fight his best friend. Alas, he was physically incapable of doing so.
