Cupid's Arrow hit me hard! -
Chapter 1703
Chapter 1703
Going to Liberty was useless.
The source of the problem was her son.
Mrs. Lewis also did a series of extreme actions against her son.
After that... What was left was only regret.
Liberty said magnanimously, "I don't remember the words you've said to me before, Mrs. Lewis.
I understand you.
"It's better to have a marriage between people of equal social standing.
I'm also a mother.
If my son were to like a girl whose standards differ from his too much, I might find it hard to accept too." She would consider herself an open-minded mother before it happened. However, if it were to happen, not many people could truly be open -minded in allowing their children to get married to whomever they wanted.
The parents in the York family stood out because only a handful of people could do that.
Liberty often told Serenity to cherish everything both of them had.
Putting Zachary's attitude aside, how many people could be as open-minded as the York family's parents? Therefore, she was not angry that Mrs. Lewis stopped Duncan from pursuing her. She understood where Mrs. Lewis was coming from.
"Thank you, Liberty.
Thank you for not resenting me." Mrs. Lewis thanked Liberty gratefully.
She thought Liberty had a good character.
Although Liberty's background could not compare to the Lewis family, she was working hard to make herself stronger.
She was not bad, as she had self-motivation to improve and was willing to work hard.
Mrs. Lewis had always known that Liberty was a great person, but she simply could not look past her social status.
Moving forward, she would not care about her children's relationships anymore.
They would be fine on their own, so she would let them be.
"Mrs. Lewis, I've never done anything worth your gratitude to me.
Stop thanking me," Liberty said embarrassedly.
She consoled Mrs. Lewis again, "Believe in Mr. Duncan, Mrs. Lewis.
He won't be defeated so easily." Mrs. Lewis nodded in silence.
After staying in the cafe for some time, she quickly left as she was concerned about her son in the hospital.
She rushed back to the hospital to continue caring for her son, whose temper turned grumpier by the day.
After Mrs. Lewis left, Liberty sat for a little while before leaving.
Sonny was already back from his lesson when she returned to All You Can Eat.
As Jim did not see Liberty around in the diner, he did not leave even though the two employees were present.
He stayed in the store and played with Sonny.
When he saw Liberty was back, he stood up and greeted her witha smile.
"Liberty." He helped to bring Sonny to and fro classes every day.
Liberty did not allow him to call her Ms. Hunt.
She asked him to call her by her name.
Jim stopped being overly polite.
The time he had to follow his boss around had decreased, but taking good care of Sonny and obtaining Liberty's trust would open up limitless potential for his future. Liberty nodded with a smile.
Sonny jogged over and flung himself into her embrace.
"mom, I was praised today." Sonny excitedly shared with his mother his happiness about being complimented.
After asking why he got a compliment, she praised him too.
The child was smug.
"Mom, I want to go to Aunt Ser's place." The child knew how to show off after being praised.
He wanted to gain compliments from more people.
Liberty stood up.
She said with a smile, "Okay.
I'll take you to Aunt Ser's place now." She took her phone and sent a message to Serenity to ask where she was.
Not long after, Serenity replied to her sister.
She had sent voice messages: [Liberty, I've just returned to the bookstore.) "Mom, I want to talk to Aunt Ser," Sonny requested.
