Chapter 240 How Dare You Hang Up on Me

Diane immediately jumped up as her face turned pale. She was afraid that Daniel had overheard something that he wasn't supposed to.

"N-Nothing. Aren't you supposed to be in the company? Why did you come home so suddenly?"

Leonard, who had been acting casual and nonchalant, subconsciously stood up straight under Daniel's fierce gaze. He placed his arms by his sides and stood straight with respect. Daniel went over to sit down on the couch. He glanced at Leonard momentarily before saying, "Leo, stay back for a moment. I have something to say t you."

Diane opened her mouth, but no words came out. Her eyes were filled with worry as she kept turning back before she left.

Once only the two of them were left in the room, Daniel waved his hand for Leonard to come over. "Sit over here. I have something I want to talk with you about."

Leonard walked over and sat on the couch opposite Daniel's. He seemed slightly nervous as he asked, "What is it, Dad?"

Daniel remained silent for a moment before saying, "You're not a young kid anymore, so stop angering your mother. Your brothers have already built a family, so what are your plans?"

Leonard frowned. "I still think I'm quite young, and I don't see a need to marry so early on in life. I haven't had enough fun yet."

Daniel sighed. "You're already 28 years old. You aren't that young anymore. Your marriage hasn't been settled yet, and I'm worried about it.

"I'm afraid people will think I'm treating you differently because you're not my biological son. I've been treating you much more carefully as I'm afraid you'd think I'm treating you differently."

Leonard didn't say a word as Daniel had never brought up the fact that he wasn't his biological son. Why did he suddenly mention this all of a sudden? Daniel observed Leonard's reaction and continued, "There's someone who I think would suit you well. You should free up some time and meet her for a meal. If you like her, the two of you can get engaged first. It won't stop you from fooling around either. But if you don't like her, then I won't force you. "Marriage is not something that relies solely on feelings, but you should at least find the other person pleasing to the eye."

Leonard was just about to reject Daniel's offer when Daniel seemed to have suddenly thought of something. He asked, "Did you just rent out a storefront?

Leonard swallowed back the words that had been at the tip of his tongue and said through gritted teeth, "Give me a time, and I'll go and meet that woman."

Daniel smiled in satisfaction. "Alright then. Also, were you arguing with your mother just now?"

It was too late by the time Leonard had realized that something was wrong. Daniel suddenly swung his cane at him.

Leonard took a few swings before he was allowed to leave.

He had a feeling that Daniel had sensed something amiss. He could no longer do as he wished. It was obvious Daniel had been threatening him with the storefront just now... Dominic only returned from his business trip on Monday.

Bella had been busy in the hospital when he called her. "We haven't seen each other for two days. I'm home now, yet you're not home."

Bella could hear the resentment in his tone. Looking at the patient in front of her, she had no choice but to act calm as she said, "I'm busy now, so I'll call you back later."

With that said, she ended the call.

She didn't dare to look at her phone as her phone rang as she was worried that her patient would mind. Once she finished her tasks at hand, she unlocked her phone to see a message from Dominic.

It was only a simple sentence, yet his words made her legs go weak. He wrote, "Since you even dare to hang up on me now, you can just wait for me tonight."

Bella felt her face turn red. She didn't answer his message and quickly turned her phone off, afraid that someone would accidentally see his message. Didn't that bastard also hang up on her when he was busy? How could he be such a hypocrite! Noticing, that someone was standing by her door, she habitually straightened her back and waited for the patient to be seated.

She had numerous patients coming in and out every day, and she did not have a habit of staring at other people. However, she couldn't help but give her patient a second glance when she saw the patient before her.
