Looking up at me, his face was the epitome of humility. "Babe, I messed up! I shouldn't have laid a hand on you, please forgive me! These past few days have been hell. Let's not fight anymore, okay? I let out a mocking laugh, "Ha... The same old excuses every time. Can't you come up with something new? If it was a failed investment, an unexpected project hiccup, or even a scam, I'd be duty-bound to help. I'd reach into my pocket even if it bankrupted me.

"Where did the drug come from?" I pressed on.

"From my brother! He told me it was just to make you sleep!" he insisted earnestly.

I bore into him with my gaze, and he added guiltily, "I didn't think it would hurt you." "Why did he want you to drug me?"

"Just... so you wouldn't interfere with Medsafe Liyah Inc. anymore!" Jaylan confessed.

I laughed coldly, "Nice. To keep me out of Medsafe Liyah Inc., you drugged me. But it wasn't just that, was it? What about those contracts you had me sign? That was your real plan, right?"

He straightened up suddenly, a look of alarm crossing his face, "How did you..."

Seeing he wouldn't continue, I jumped in to guide his thoughts, "How did I find out, you mean?"

"You drugged me into a stupor and made me sign those power of attorney and gift agreements, right?" I fixed my eyes on his, "You wanted to slowly kill me off after getting hold of Medsafe Liyah Inc., didn't you?"

"I... well..." Jaylan stumbled over his words and finally asked, "How did you find out?"

I sighed in relief; it seemed my guess was correct, and there were indeed hallucinogens involved, just as Logan had said.

"But I'm your wife," I pressed him. "You conspired with the nanny to drug me and even had an affair with her. Did you think I wouldn't find out?"
