Chapter 423
Chapter 423 Unexpected Visitor
The person standing at the door was not Luciana, but a young man.
A familiar face appeared in Dexter's view.
Every hair on Dexter's body stood on end at that moment.
After all, the young man standing before him was none other than Emrys, the mysterious youth he was preparing to investigate, who was always by Sierra's side.
"Are you Dexter? Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Emrys. I assume you have already learned about me online." Emrys wore a faint smile on his face, but to Dexter, it only intensified his sense of unease. He knows my name, and he is also aware that his information has been searched for online. What on earth is going on?
Taking a deep breath, Dexter feigned calmness as he said, "I am Dexter, but I don't recognize you."
"Don't be so quick to deny. Let me come in and sit for a while!" Emrys chuckled.
Just like Luciana had done before, without seeking Dexter's opinion, Emrys walked into the living room and sat down, sniffing the air. "There's a strong, peculiar smell on your couch."
Dexter's heart jolted with surprise, but his face quickly darkened. He said, "Young man, do you not know that it is illegal to trespass into a private residence without my permission?"
"Illegal?" Emrys chuckled lightly. "Well, well, the once top paparazzo of the entertainment industry, surprisingly uttering the word 'illegal'. That is indeed somewhat beyond my expectations!"
In the entertainment industry, there was an unwritten rule that public figures had no privacy. Consequently, the notion of any legal transgressions was often dismissed. Of course, this was merely the wishful thinking of the paparazzi. Whether it was lawful or not is a difficult line to draw.
Some people argued that it served as a form of supervision over public figures, providing a positive and constructive influence.
Some people also argued that it was an infringement on the privacy rights of public figures.
It was hard to say.
What could be asserted, however, was that the profession of paparazzi was fraught with extreme risks. A slight misstep that upsets a big shot could lead to a truly tragic end. Dexter was a vivid example.
The once pioneering paparazzo had surprisingly fallen to the point of constantly having to hide and seek refuge.
The visit from Emrys, along with his overly composed manner of speaking, left Dexter in awe. Dexter couldn't help but wonder, Could this also be a figure of significant influence? Dexter asked with disbelief, "How on earth did you manage to find me?"
"Haven't I already given you the answer? Keyword search. When you were gathering my information online, your every move naturally fell within my sight," answered Emrys.
"Keyword search..." Dexter furrowed his brows fiercely, a sudden thought striking him, his complexion drastically changing in an instant. By searching through keywords, he found me. Is this what they referred to in legends? Searching for someone through the internet? This kind of method is not something that an ordinary person could possess.
That revealed a terrifying piece of information, which was that the entire internet of Chanaea could potentially be under the control of a young man named Emrys.
As such, Dexter wondered who Emrys was and under what circumstances keywords would typically enter the surveillance system.
In reality, it was only when it involved sensitive personal names.
For instance, when one was searching for a celebrity, even if one searched thousands upon thousands of times, no one would bother them.
However, if one were frequently searching for the name of a national leader, or any information related to state secrets, one would certainly have already entered into the surveillance system.
That was the aspect that truly terrified Dexter upon careful consideration.
The young man before my eyes is no ordinary individual. Dexter somewhat regretted agreeing to Luciana's conditions.
As Dexter had suspected, it was the Seventy-two Shadow Forces that enabled Emrys to find him, and they had effortlessly exposed Dexter.
Emrys was not concerned about Dexter's mood. He glanced at him and inquired, "Who was that woman earlier, and why was she searching for you?"
Dexter maintained his silence.
He contemplated deeply. Considering the circumstances, he was inevitably going to upset one side. The crucial question was which side he should offend in order to minimize the potential danger.
