Scarlett did not understand. "What are you talking about?"

Nina looked outside again, noticing James's occasional expressions of unease. She felt that her suspicions were partially correct.

Nash might be trying to gain Seth's trust and would likely take some calculated risks. The fact that Nash and Miranda were still missing only added to her concerns.

"James, did Nash go to see Seth?" Nina asked directly.

"Well..." James hesitated. "Captain will come back. Don't worry about him. If he returns, I'll inform you immediately."

Scarlett, catching on, said to Nina, "If Nash really went to see Seth, it's probably to get the antidote. Seth can make medicines and likely has his own lab. He must have learned from Pharaoh. He wouldn't waste his skills."

Nina's expression grew tense as she turned back to James. "Why didn't you go with him? You haven't made any moves. Did Nash go alone? Isn't that too dangerous?"

James was cornered. "Captain didn't want us to follow."

"Big goof, why can't you just tell the truth?" Scarlett said urgently. "Before I got out, I saw Nash with Miranda. They must have gone together. Miranda is Seth's daughter, so she could definitely take him to see Seth. But I don't know how she did it."

James glared at Scarlett, irritated by her remarks. "Can you stop talking? Who are you calling a big goof? You're a key suspect and now you're insulting an officer. If you keep this up, I'll have you locked up in prison!"

He tried to scare Scarlett into silence, but she wasn't easily intimidated.

She didn't want to make things too easy for him either so she put on an act, saying, "You're quite the bully, throwing your weight around. Does your boss know you do this?"

"You..." James was fuming.

"James," Nina called out, stopping him. "Don't blame Scarlett. Even if she didn't say anything, I would still suspect something. Do you think I wouldn't question why Nash suddenly broke up with me? I only resent him for not sharing the truth with me, for bearing everything alone. Did he ever respect me?"

James tried to explain, "Captain wanted to protect you from suffering..."

"And doing this didn't make me suffer?" Nina retorted. "He thought only from his perspective, never considering mine!"

Scarlett added, "Men always think they're doing the right thing, but in the end, they just hurt women."

James glared at Scarlett, mouthing, "Shut up. Do you want to make things worse?"

Scarlett ignored his warning with a huff.

Nina pressed on. "When will you take action?"

"It's not time yet," James replied. "But as soon as there's a development, we'll act immediately."

"I'm going too!"

"No, it's too dangerous," James refused.

"I won't go inside. I'll stay in the car," Nina said calmly.

James considered it. It wasn't impossible, as long as her safety was ensured.

"Dad, will Nash be okay? Why hasn't he woken up yet?" Miranda asked anxiously, looking at Nash lying on the sofa.
