Karina threw out those words and ran off.

The only place she could go was the hospital, where she had switched shifts to cover the night shift.

Tonight, the hospital hallways were unusually quiet, with only the occasional beeping of medical equipment breaking the silence.

As usual, Karina patrolled the patient ward, checking on the conditions of her patients.

But then, an unexpected figure appeared before her.

Kieran hobbled toward her, leaning heavily on his crutches, his gait uneven.

Karina wrinkled her nose. What was that smell?

It seemed to be coming from him. The closer he got, the stronger the scent became.

Kieran reeked of alcohol, and his eyes were clouded with confusion and wildness.

"Karina..." he slurred her name, his voice thick and indistinct. Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed her wrist tightly.

Startled, Karina tried to pull away.

"Kieran, you're drunk! What are you doing here? Let go of me!"

But Kieran ignored her protests. Fueled by alcohol, he yanked her closer, his other hand reaching for her face, as if to force a kiss. Terrified, Karina turned her head to avoid him, disgust and fear flooding her heart. "You're insane! If you don't stop, I'll call security!" Kieran let out a cold laugh.

"Call security? Do you think they can get here faster than I can grab you? Karina, you can't escape me. You belong to me." His voice, low and sinister, sent chills down Karina's spine. Goosebumps covered her arms as she struggled desperately. Summoning her courage, she drove her knee sharply into Kieran's groin. He gasped in pain, his grip loosening just enough.

Karina seized the moment to break free and bolted toward the nurses' station, where she knew her colleagues would be-and where she could call for security.

But Kieran, drunk and enraged, refused to let her go. Gritting his teeth against the pain, he took long, unsteady strides and caught up to her.

From behind, he clamped his hand over her mouth, muffling her scream. Her cries for help were trapped in her throat.

Karina squirmed and kicked wildly,

trying to draw attention, but Kieran's strength was overwhelming. He dragged her toward the stairwell, ignoring her frantic resistance.

BUMS

Fear gripped Karina. She twisted her head and tried to bite his hand, but Kieran seemed prepared. His grip tightened, cutting off her air. She felt her vision blur as her breathing grew shallow.

In the stairwell, Kieran shoved her against the wall with brutal force. Her body slammed into the hard surface, and a sharp pain shot through her.

Leaning against the wall, Karina gulped for air, anger bubbling up inside her.

"Kieran, what do you want? This is illegal, and you know it!" she yelled, her voice trembling.

Kieran only chuckled, his eerie laugh echoing in the empty stairwell. The sound sent a shiver down her spine.

"Illegal? I don't care. Karina, I've become like this because of you, and now you want to abandon me? Do you think I'll let you go that easily?"

He advanced toward her, step by menacing step.

Panicking, Karina frantically scanned

the

that could help her escape. Hereyes landed on a fire extinguisher An idea sparked in her mind.

Searching for anything

As Kieran moved closer, she lunged for the extinguisher, grabbed it, and swung it at him with all her might. Kieran couldn't dodge in time. The extinguisher hit his shoulder hard, and he roared in pain, stumbling backward. Taking advantage of his momentary disorientation, Karina darted toward the stairwell door.

But Kieran quickly steadied himself and came after her again.

Meanwhile, at the nurses' station, Jenna and Mandy were chatting quietly during a rare moment of calm.
