Caught In His Embrace: A Second Chance Romance -
Chapter 139
Chapter 139
Yvette stormed off, clearly upset.
Josiah rubbed his temples, feeling stumped. Is Howard really seeing someone else? he wondered.
He wouldn’t tell Yvette even if he knew, but he was genuinely clueless about Howard’s feelings.
That night, everyone at the Flynn residence was bound to have a sleepless night.
The next morning, at the breakfast table, only Miranda and Howard were there, Josiah had left early, and Yvette, unusually, was still in bed.
Miranda sighed, putting down her fork and looking at Howard. “Howard, I don’t know what’s going on, but if it’s true. I have to say though you’re my grandson, cheating is never okay”
this–even
Howard stayed silent.
“I trust theres a reason for this. You’ve always been sensible,” Miranda said, leaning towards him and pointing upstairs, “Yvette is really upset. You should go and talk to her and try to smooth things over
Yeah, got it. Howard nodded slowly.
“That’s the spirit.” Miranda said, relieved. “Yvette has been waiting for you for so long, you can’t just let her down.”
She called to the caregiver, “Could you take Howard upstairs?”
“Sure thing. Madam,” the caregiver replied.
Upstairs, the caregiver wheeled Howard to Yvette’s room and knocked “Yvette, it’s Howard”
There was silence for a moment. The caregiver checked the door and said, “Howard, it’s unlocked”
Howard nodded, and the caregiver stepped back.
Till be right outside, the caregiver added.
With a nod, Howard opened the door and rolled in. The room was dark, with the curtains tightly closed. He took a moment to let his eyes adjust and carefully rolled his wheelchair to the bed. Yvette lay there, her back to him, seeiningly unaware of his
presence.
Howard gripped the armrests of his wheelchair, struggling to speak. “Tim… sorry, he managed to say. Yvette’s eyes snapped open, but she didn’t move.
Howard continued slowly, “Don’t be mad When she didn’t respond, he inched closer, trying to stand with the wheelchair for support. “What are you doing?” Yvette asked, sensing something was off. She turned quickly and caught Howard as he stood up, nearly losing his balance. They ended up in a tight embrace.
“I’m sorry,” Howard whispered into

“Ugh.” Yvette felt tears welling up. “Since you know y

“No. No, it’s no

Yvelle was confused. “Are you saying it’s not what I
I think?
“What do you mean” y
“Yeah” Howard nodded slowly.
Then. “Yvette almost asked about the other woman but stopped herself, remembering his reaction from yesterday. She didn’t want to push him

“Promise Yvette said, stepping back. “You wont see her again”
Howard’s
s eyes darkened brielly, but he nodded. “Yeah, I promise.”
Thank you, Yvette said in surprise, hugging him. “Tve waited for you for four years. You don’t know how I struggled. I can’t lose you…

Chapter 139
Π
Howard was quiet, his brow furrowed
They made up, finally. Yvette pulled away, got out of bed, and said, “I have one event today, but I’ll be back early to help with your rehab, Wait for me, okay?”
Howard just
nodded
In the afternoon. Yvette returned home early, just as she’d expected.
The house was eerily quiet, everyone was napping, and even Linda, the housekeeper, seemed to have vanished. Yvette tiptoed upstairs, trying to avoid making any noise.
The whole situation with Howard and his past seemed to be over, but Yvette couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t really behind them. She wondered if Howard had truly moved on
She approached his bedroom door and, without knocking, gently opened it. To her surprise, Howard was fast asleep.
Feeling a mix of disappointment and relief, Yvette tiptoed over to the bed and noticed his phone lying next to the pillow.
Her heart started racing. She hit her lip, held her breath, picked up the phone, and swiped the screen, scanning it over Howard’s face. The screen unlocked.
Wette looked at the lit screen and saw a photo that made her freeze. It was Sienna, captured in a candid shot as she left the theater with her colleagues after a performance. It must have been Hervey who took the picture and sent it
Yvette felt a rush of disbelief and coldness in her feet. She held her forehead, feeling unsteady, and looked at Howard, still fast asleep. She wondered in shock, ‘So it was
it was Sienna? The girl in the photo he had burned in a hurry last time was Sienna How could this be?? She couldn’t believe Howard had feelings for Sienna. When did this happen? It must have been a few years ago, and she hadn’t noticed it at all. Yvette let out a soft, bitter laugh and thought, Sienna’s always clinging to Josiah, yet she has secretly won Howard’s heart too. How absurd. Everyone in town thinks I’m basking in their affection, but actually, that’s just a rumor. Sienna is the one who has captivated both of them. What a bitch
Suddenly, Yvette glared at Howard on the bed with anger. He had betrayed her with his brother’s love,
She raised her hand, intending to wake him up and confront him, but she froze. She thought. ‘No, I can’t do this. If Howard admits it. I’ll have nothing left. No, Yvette, calm down.
Think it over. One wrong move can lead to a series of mistakes. I need to carefully consider what to do next. At least I figured out who won
Howard’s heart.
Miranda had her check–up, and Sienna was with her.
When they returned to the Flynn residence, they fo
found Howard in the living room, patiently waiting in his wheelchair. “You’re… back…” he said.
“Yep, Howard, we’re back” Sienna replied with a smile.
Miranda invited her to stay for dinner. “Sienna, why don’t you join us for dinner?”
Thanks, Miranda, but I can’t, Sienna said “I have dance p
practice in
tonight”
“Oli?” Miranda was surprised. “I thought you didn’t have a performance today.”
“No performance, but we’re starting a tour soon, so I need to keep practicing Sienna explained. “Dancing is something you have to practice every day
“Right of course, Miranda agreed, “Well, I won’t keep you then
“Miranda, Howard, I’m going to the bathroom, Sienna said, excusing herself.
“Sure, Miranda replied.
Just then, Josiah strode in, keys in hand.
