Casmas Clan: Josiah and Clara -
Chapter Fifteen
~ Clara Clara walked through her house several weeks after the fight, wondering what she was going to do now. She had already fixed all the broken windows and doors. Decided she wasn't going to deal with the flooded basement yet, and
now, she was thinking upon the message her father had left for her yesterday.
The storm had flooded several basements in Kosta but luckily hadn't done much other damage to the structures. Yesterday, Clara had walked through Kosta surveying the damages and flooding yet that didn't bother her. She eventually came across where the fight had taken place beside her house. She had stared down at the bloodstains and the truth of what she had done finally slammed into her.
Clara now stood on the second floor of her home, staring out of the window. Her eyes closed as her hand lowered to her stomach. A few days ago, the worst she had to deal with was raising her unborn child without its father. Now, she had to deal with all the deaths she had caused.
She was so screwed. She wanted, needed, to talk to someone, anyone, over what had happened, but there was no one she could talk with. Catalina wouldn't understand. She couldn't tell her father, he would totally flip out. And Josiah, well he no longer wanted anything to do with her. Hell, his words still haunted her late at night. And in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon as well.
Sighing deeply, Clara opened her eyes and stared outside once more. She also couldn't wrap her mind around that large, sandy-colored wolf there at the end of the fight. It obviously didn't belong with the others, the Casmás or Pipsqueak didn't attack it. It had just shocked her, crawling up to her as it had, before licking her hand. She should have been frightened of it, but oddly enough, she hadn't been.
Oh great, there was her father, heading up the walkway and inside the house. Clara had forgotten his message stating he'd be back today. Not wanting to deal with him or give him her answer, Clara closed her eyes once again. Relaxing her mind, a great feat considering, and focused her attention on the outside. At a slight bump under her feet, she opened her eyes and looked around. Clara sighed in relief. She was now standing outside, with a slight breeze rustling through her shorn blonde hair. Smiling, she decided on a short walk.
~ Josiah Josiah sat nervously within the ruined den, waiting on Alpha Dermet and the talking to he was going to get. Josiah would much rather be out in Kosta searching for Clara and making up with her. Instead, he had to sit here and wait on Dermet. He didn't have long to wait, and within minutes of his sitting down, Dermet arrived.
"Good. You didn't make me wait."
Dermet stated as he took a seat across from him. Josiah knew better than to mention Dermet had kept him waiting.
"Have a seat and we'll get started."
Again, Josiah decided to remain quiet, while watching Dermet take a seat across from him. Did he have so much on his mind that he wasn't even paying attention? It could be. Ever since the fight against Killt, Dermet had been searching for a new den. Since this one had practically been destroyed by the storm. He was also still searching for the rest of the betrayers.
"First off, I've located a new home for our den. It's at the end of Coronado Street. Secondly, as you know, we did not defeat all of the Killt pack. Albert was not among them, and I know how much you're out for his blood. Neither was Alpha Rogé among those killed. I have feelers out, searching for their next move."
Josiah nodded. He knew Beta Albert wasn't among the Killt dead. He had searched for the bastard for hours during the thick of the storm. "If all else fails, I'll lead you to their den in Ost."
Dermet nodded distractedly. "Finally, I wish to discuss the witch, Clara. Do not say a word."
Josiah clamped his mouth shut, attempting to keep his thoughts to himself, so as not to anger his new Alpha. Even though he really wanted to demand Dermet leave Clara out of any plans or ideas. When he was satisfied Josiah wasn't going to speak, Dermet continued.
"Now, I do not mean to come off as a prick, however, it would be great for this Clan to have a witch on our side. Catalina has been attempting to bring Clara into our folds since the girl first arrived here and saved your life."
Josiah blinked several times in shock. He had never known Clara was the girl who had pointed out his floating, prone body on the waves. When he spoke with her to get her back, he would mention his appreciation of her good deeds. "So you're going to beg, borrow, steal, whatever to bring Clara into our folds. Both the surviving members of Killt and the Amo pack are after Clara. Now stop being a dumbass. You cannot disregard or get rid of your mate once you've found her. Not without severe consequences. Fix this! Dismissed."
Josiah was still sitting there in a state of surprise as Dermet rose and left the destroyed room. Well, that was not how he expected this conversation to go. Rising, Josiah finally left the old den and began hunting through the streets. It was time for him to attempt groveling.
