The clipped silence and tense atmosphere made more than one uncomfortable. The two tycoons stood there fixing their attention on each other. She had asked to see his people and he had refused. Nebraska drew her lips into a line and rose slowly, analysing his every move, yet her knees creaked. Holding back the pain she approached where the alpha should be and stopped in front of him, raising her head.

His scent betrayed calmness, tranquility, not rapture as Hades had imagined after his refusal.

-I just want to see them and get them back to their normal state.

-No,” the alpha denied again.

-Why?” she tilted her head, trying to reason with him.

-I would not take anyone in your condition to such a dangerous place,” she said.

-Alpha, I am a pure-blooded omega.

Hades did not understand the comment.

-Take me and you will understand.

Curiosity gnawed at him, what did he mean by that. He didn’t know much about omegas and even less about purebloods as she said. They were few and far between and few spoke about themselves, they kept to the shadows trying to remain unnoticed. There must be something about them that made it so. Maybe this was the chance to find out.

-Don’t leave my side, and it will only take a few minutes.

In the end he agreed, the she-wolf seemed to want to escape and run to where he kept the males confined. He saw her smile. Slightly, almost imperceptibly, but sincerely.

-Thank you.”

Nebraska turned, waving goodbye to everyone and resumed her march behind Hades, when her foot failed and she fell forward. The alpha responded with his overdeveloped reflexes and wrapped one of his strong arms around her, lifting her off the ground and carrying her as he had done before.

-Rest in the meantime,” he said without looking at her. He didn’t seem sure he was doing the right thing, he wanted to take her back to the manor, but he knew she would do anything crazy to be reunited with her own kind. He felt it inside him.

Nebraska held onto his collar with more confidence this time. This alpha didn’t seem so bad. He hadn’t assaulted her family and cared for her as if she were delicate, he would still have to wait for her true colours to come out. You couldn’t trust anyone, only yourself.

Liam for his part stood with the other wolves watching his queen leave in the arms of that alpha who seemed to want to hog her by constantly mixing his scent with hers. He could only click his tongue and clench his fists until they bled.

Leoxi found the image her eyes were seeing comical. His brother so intimate with a she-wolf, that was only in his dreams.

-Commander, what’s so funny,” the twin just shook his head and denied his companion’s question.

-Nothing, I just remembered something,” he said.

Hades smelled something strange coming from his brother from afar, he knew he was either up to something or he was being made fun of. The gleam in his orbs gave him away.

-And what does the queen say,” Leoxi bowed to the omega in respect as her brother helped her to the ground.

-You smell just like him. No, similar.

-He’s my twin brother,” the alpha stood by her side with his hand on her back and pulled her back against his body, the little rest hadn’t helped her stability.

-I had business to attend to so I didn’t get a chance to greet her. I am Leoxi, the Commander of the pack.

She nodded her head in greeting, I was sure she would know his name by now.

-The manchos of my pack are here, can you take me inside,” she pointed inside where she could only see lights and flashes.

Leoxi looked at her brother.

-She insisted and there’s something interesting I want to check out.

His brother just lifted his shoulders and turned and led the way into the large hall of cells, the vast majority occupied by wolves, some in their animal form, some in their human. The common factor, all of them red-eyed and chained.

Nebraska could not differentiate well with barely any light coming from the small windows and torches scattered throughout the ship.

-Take me into someone’s cell,” she asked Leoxi.

He felt Hades’ hand curl around his arm.

-That’s not what we agreed on, you’re not going into any of the cells,” he said.

-Then you can take it, I can’t do anything from here,” he removed his hand, pushing it down.

Hades clenched his fist and looked at his twin.

-Two more wolves came running in. “Hold him,” he pointed to the prisoner in the cell he was opening, over six feet tall, with what must have been good muscle, now consumed by his own body trying to survive.

The two guards came in and held the prisoner’s neck and secured his hands. The prisoner began to grunt and white phlegm dripped from his lips.

Nebraska was led into the cell by Leoxi.

-I’ll walk the rest of the way, you can get more upset.

Reluctantly the wolf left her and joined Hades at the entrance with his guard up, ready to attack if necessary.

-Are you sure about this?

-No.” Her brother looked annoyed.

Nebraska walked and stopped in front of the man who tried to assault her. The two soldiers tensed their arms to stop his movements and even the brothers had broken their stance. For her part, she had not flinched.

-Shhhhhh,” she said softly, raising her arms and bringing her hands to the cheeks of the man who, as soon as he felt her touch, stopped dead in his tracks.

From the omega’s body, a soft and sweet scent began to spread throughout the ship.

-Easy, come back with me, I’m here, it’ll be all right,” each word dragged her attention back to the man.

The tormenting noise of growls and howls in that place gradually stopped. The prisoner slumped forward and they could only watch as his eyes returned to their natural green before he lost consciousness.

Those present were shocked.

Nebraska staggered and her legs finally gave out in exhaustion. Her body was held by Hades before she fell to the ground.

-What did you do?” he looked more than surprised.

-What only omegas can do, awaken the wolves from their madness,” he said.
