Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1701
She looked around the bedside table with furrowed brows, wondering where the thermos flask went when the door suddenly swung open.
“Good morning, Miss Bennet,” Dewey greeted at the door.
Rachel looked over, still feeling a little dizzy.
It took her a moment to remember she fell asleep in Alberto’s room last night.
“Mr.
Gibson seems to have calculated the time quite accurately,”
Dewey said, letting himself in.
“Calculated the timing?”
“He said you might wake up around this time, so he told me to bring in lukewarm water for you before he went out,” Dewey explained.
“How are you feeling now? Much better?”
Rachel looked at the thermos flask in Dewey’s hand.
It was the same one Alberto had brought in last night.
“Yeah.
Much better.” Curiosity got the best of her, and she asked after a short pause, “Has Mr.
Gibson left? Where is he now?”
“Mr.
Gibson left for work first thing in the morning,” Dewey said, answering Rachel’s question.
“But don’t worry.
He told me you can take your time coming to the office, given you had a fever yesterday.”
It was only thirty minutes past seven, and Alberto had already left for work.
What time did he wake up to leave that early? Rachel subconsciously glanced at the spot where Alberto slept last night.
The blanket and pillow he used were no longer there.
As Rachel’s thoughts drifted away, Dewey spoke, pulling her back.
“Anyway, he prepared porridge for you.
Please come downstairs after you’re done here.”
Rachel nodded.
“Okay.”
Rachel hastened to freshen up, knowing her things were in the other room.
After a few minutes, she walked out of the room and went downstairs.
Even before reaching the dining room, she could smell the rich and savory aroma of the porridge.
Dewey had just finished serving the porridge when he saw Rachel approaching and offered politely, “Please have a seat, Miss Bennet.”
Rachel looked at the bowl of thick and sapid porridge.
It impressed her that Alberto had prepared it himself.
She thought a wealthy man like him had never set foot in the kitchen.
Plus, given his health, she assumed his family had hired chefs for him.
