BOOK5 Chapter2
"Do you think I know nothing about it?" Juliana forced a smile. "That day when you talked about her while I was chopping vegetables, I accidentally cut my finger, but you didn't even notice. "That was when I realized your concern for her went far beyond what
was normal."
"But..." Stanley tried to argue, but Juliana shook her head.
"I don't have the strength to fight anymore." Her voice revealed deep exhaustion. "You know what? Actually... actually, I'm dying."
The words shocked Stanley, leaving him frozen. "What did you say?" He could hardly believe his ears.
Juliana turned to face him, her eyes full of tears. "Stanley, I'm running
out of time."
Juliana's thoughts suddenly flashed back to that summer when they were still young.
During the scorching summer break, two youthful figures sat facing each other on a park bench.
Stanley told her, "You know, I've decided to change my college application."
Juliana looked up in surprise. "What? Why?"
Stanley smiled, his gaze firm. "I want to go to university with you."
Juliana felt warm in her heart, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Tears soaked her face as she pushed him, urging him to change his application back to the original one.
How could he be so reckless just for her?
But what did he say?
Well, he said.
"With me around, what are you afraid of?"
It wasn't an illusion; she had heard it.
Juliana was lost in her memories, while Stanley had already stood up, preparing to leave.
He looked at Juliana, a complex emotion flickering across his face.
Stanley said, "Juliana, there is something I need to handle."
Juliana looked up, puzzled. "What is it?"
Stanley didn't answer but just replied lightly, "Don't worry about it."
A trace of unease arose in Juliana's heart. She noticed a strange

coldness in Stanley's eyes that made her uneasy. She wanted to ask. more but was interrupted by Stanley "You're always like this, relying on others. Do you think I will always
accommodate you?"
Juliana was
s stunned, looking incredulously at the person who had once been so gentle. She tried to explain, "Stanley, you misunderstood..."
But Stanley had already turned to leave, leaving behind a final remark. "Don't use those lies to gain sympathy."
Juliana stood there dazed, tears blurring her vision. She couldn't understand why Stanley would do so. Had he forgotten everything they had gone through together? Now, the man in the room wore a gentle smile, softly comforting the person on the phone.
It was Amelia.
Rushing out in a hurry, Stanley paused when he noticed Juliana's tear-streaked face. After a brief moment of hesitation, he cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Amelia has been troubled by those old men at the dinner party again. I need to go find her. You need to calm down at home."
With that, he grabbed his suit from the table and made to leave.

Juliana forced herself to stand up.
"Stanley, we're both adults, and so is Amelia. Have you considered
that she doesn't need to socialize? Why does she always have to follow along? It's because..."
