BOOK2 Chapter7

His gaze lingers on me for only a moment before shifting back to Jessica, fi d with affection as he praises her. "You did well."

"But in the future, don't take matters into your own hands," he continues, a hint of

concern lacing his tone. "What if you hurt yourself? I'd hate to see that, especially that

pretty face of yours..."

He gently caresses Jessica's cheek, his expression one of deep admiration, as if he

were cherishing a precious treasure.

After that, he doesn't spare me another glance. He turns to his bodyguards and orders, "Go outside and dig a hole to bury her. Don't dirty my yard."

Two bodyguards obey immediately, dragging my body away from the villa. Meanwhile, Charles casts another glance at my room's window, perhaps growing anxious as he doesn't see what he is hoping for.

Moments later, his expression darkens, and he dial a number, his voice cold as he instructs, "Bring the food from the car."

Before long, the driver appears, jogging with several thermal boxes.

Charles arranges the dishes on the courtyard table, displaying a colorful array of

delicious food, all tailored to my taste.

Jessica's face lights up with joy and gratitude. "Charlie, you're so sweet! You even prepared food for me!"

Charles glances at my window and raises his voice intentionally. "You worked hard. today, teaching someone a lesson. It breaks my heart to see you like this." As he tenderly feeds Jessica, this is the first time he displays such affectionate

behavior toward her.

"See? I told you Mr. Davis would be worried about Jessy after she dealt with that woman," one says.

"I'm so jealous of Jessy. She's lucky to have such a devoted man like Mr. Davis," another chimes in.

"Honestly, that shameless plastic surgery b**h thought she could steal Mr. Davis. It's laughable," a friend scoffs. "No one can shake Jessy's place in Mr. Davis's heart." Under the envious gazes, Jessica is fed bite after bite, her smile blossoming.

But Charles grows increasingly distracted, his eyes frequently darting toward my room, as if he is hoping to catch a glimpse of me.

"Mr. Davis, the body is buried," one of the bodyguards reports respectfully.

Seeing the stillness in the villa, Charles abruptly stands up and calls out loudly the window, "Jessica, I'm taking you to the Davis estate right now."

"If you like it, we'll move you in today."

Jessica beams with excitement, wrapping her arms around his. "Yes, yes! Let's go! I can't wait to live with you!"

As they walk outside, Charles keeps glancing back, searching for my presence.

The feeling of being completely ignored only fuels his irritation.

Suddenly, he halts, pulling his hand away from Jessica and turning back toward the

villa.

He rushes inside and flings my do open. "You really don't care at all...

His words trail off as he finds the room empty.
