Bride of the vampire
Chapter forty four

"You can't just leave like that!".

Damien turned around to see Mia, her eyes blazing with fury.

"Who said I can not?" he replied, his voice calm but firm.

"You can not just walk away from this," Mia spat. "You have no idea what you're getting yourself into."

"I know exactly what I am doing," Damien said, his eyes locking with hers. "I am taking Crystal out of here and keeping her safe. And if you even think about touching her again, I will come back and make sure you regret it." Mia glared at him, her lips curled into a snarl. But she did not say anything else as Damien walked out of the room, carrying Crystal in his arms.

As they were about to cross the border back to the human realm. Damien could feel the weight of crystal on his chest

"she is one heavy thing". He thought and chuckled lightly.

As they walked through the dense forest, Damien couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. He glanced around nervously, but he could not see anything out of the ordinary.

Suddenly, he heard a twig snap behind them. He turned around, ready to face whatever danger might be lurking in the dark

He had a feeling that they were not alone out here.

they finally reached the border of the human realm.

Damien breathed a sigh of relief, glad to be out of the dangerous fae territory.

But as they stepped across the border, something strange happened. The air started to shimmer and warp, like a heat mirage. Damien shielded Crystal's eyes from the glare, trying to make sense of what was happening. And then, just as suddenly as it had started, the shimmering stopped. They were standing in a completely different place, a place that Damien did not recognize.

He looked around, trying to get his bearings. This place was unlike anything he had ever seen before. The trees were twisted and gnarled, and the sky was a sickly shade of purple.

And then, from the shadows, emerged a figure. A figure with glowing red eyes and razor-sharp claws.

Damien tightened his grip on Crystal's body, ready to fight for their lives. But as the figure got closer.

"Father?" he whispered, his voice trembling.

The figure smiled, revealing rows of jagged teeth. "Hello, my son," he said. "It's been a long time, hasn't it?" Damien's mind was racing. Has he thought about their last conversation? His father had chosen hazel over him. "What are you doing here?" Damien asked, still wary.

"I'm here to help you," his father replied. "I've been watching you, Damien. I know what you're trying to do." Damien's heart sank. He didn't want his father's help. He didn't want anything to do with him.

"I don't need your help," Damien said, his voice cold.

.

His father's smile faded, and his eyes narrowed. "You should be careful, Damien," he said. "You don't know what you're up against."

"I know exactly what I am up against, and I do not need you telling me. You can go back to your hazel".

Before his father could respond, Damien vanished into thin air, leaving him alone in the strange, twisted forest.

His father shook his head in frustration as he watched Damien disappear. He knew his son was stubborn, but he also knew that he needed his help to defeat the evil that lurked around crystal. Just like her name crystal, she was too precious and will attract lots of danger because of her powers

Sighing, he turned and started walking back towards his home, hoping that Damien would come to his senses before it was too late.

Max was already at the other side of the border, he hurriedly went to help Damien when he sighted them.

Putting crystal in the back seat so she could lay down comfortably.

Once they were all in, Max started the engine and drove to the nearest hospital.

"No, drive to my place. Lucy will take care of crystal". Damien said, his voice back to his usual coldness.

Max nodded and drove there.

Lucy was outside, anxiously waiting for them to arrive. As soon as she saw their car packed, she quickly took Crystal out of the car and teleport her inside. Damien followed her, while Max parked the car and joined them inside. Lucy laid Crystal down on a comfortable couch and immediately started checking her pulse and breathing. Max and Damien watched anxiously as Lucy worked her magic. After a few minutes, Lucy looked up and smiled at them. "She is going to be fine. She is just exhausted and needs some rest." Lucy assured them.

Max and Damien let out a sigh of relief.

After a couple of hours, Crystal woke up.

"If you guys don't mind, I would like to examine her privately". Lucy said, emphasising on the word "privately".

Damien looked at Lucy suspiciously but he knew she was not a danger to crystal, Lucy had been with him way too long to actually pose as a threat.

They both nodded and went out.

As Damien and Max anxiously waited outside the room, Lucy transformed into a new person. The transformation was so smooth that no one noticed anything unusual.

Crystal shivered in fear as she stared at the new person in front of her.

"Who... who are you?" Crystal stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
