Lisa's POV

I got a message from one of my spies telling me that Cara was back in the pack. I also got a warning along with it. Who the hell is he to tell me that I could not get to her? The fact that he had the nerve to tell me that I wasn't allowed to see Cara drove me over the edge. I am his Luna; he can't decide for me, and I mindlinked him that. I bet he thinks that he can tell me what to do because we occasionally sleep together. He is incorrect. I started the friends-with-benefits back up again just to get information on what Paxton is doing. I linked him back, 'Don't think that you have any control over what I can and cannot do, Paul. I am still the Luna here. Only Paxton can do that!

'It is not my instruction, Luna. I know my place. Alpha Paxton was the one who insisted that you were not allowed to see her. He left very explicit instructions. I was just trying to warn you to protect you. Do not go there. I was just letting you know that she had arrived. I didn't see her, but I overheard some other warriors talking about her and her sisters, Paul linked me back.

How dare Paxton try to keep me from confronting Cara? I wasn't aware that her sisters were coming back with her. That does change things up. I don't want to get into a fight with Brenna, or Luna, but Cara has been a thorn in my side for too long. I waited for the guards to change up at six am and decided to go to the cells and test my luck an hour later. They may not have passed on the information properly, and I might be able to enter the cells without an issue.

I was wrong. I had to argue for several minutes before I finally gave up, brushed past them, and headed back. I found them pretty easily. They were sitting on a cot together against the far wall. They had set the other two cots lengthwise in front of the door to the cell, with their feet on the other end of the cot to ensure the door didn't open. I smirked at what they had done. I didn't want in there. I knew that I couldn't take Brenna or Luna. What I was doing here was just getting some things off my chest.

I knew that Paxton would be moving them into their new home soon. I won't get this chance again, so I'm taking it. Cara needs to know what she has done to me and Paxton. I wasn't going to let her off when she had caused me nothing but pain for the last seven years. Paxton stopped hiding the fact that he liked her since he turned eighteen.

It broke my heart that his eyes always followed her, even if I was beside him. He never watched me like that, and it hurt. I was just the one he chose for a quick way to ease his tension. But I was also the Gamma's daughter. He couldn't get away with screwing around with me and tossing me away like he did all the rest. Paxton, my brother, and Clay were all fuck-boys, and I knew that. But I had my sights set on Paxton, and I wasn't going to let anyone get in my way.

Since the Beta's daughters were off-limits to him and his friends, I guess that just made them desire them even more. But I was the Luna, and I had the pack's support behind me. They didn't like or trust Cara, which was the biggest advantage I had.

"Why did you come back here, Cara? Let me guess, you couldn't face everyone hating that you are a dirty hybrid with no powers and came crawling back?" I mocked her.

"Did you do something new to your hair, Lisa?" Cara fired back, and Brenna smirked at me.

"How dare you speak to me like that? I am the Luna here, and you will give me the proper respect that I deserve," I ground out in fury.

"I just did. You don't deserve any respect. You forget, I know you, Lisa. I know exactly how you earned your position. Respect is earned, and you have done nothing to earn my respect. Quite the opposite, in fact," Cara proclaimed. I hear Luna giggle and I focused my glare on her. "Why are any of you here? You all upped and left here without even saying goodbye. Why should we allow any of you to return here again? How did you talk Paxton into allowing you to come back?" I shrilly asked. I felt compelled to continue when they all looked at me in shock. "How dare you try to act all high and mighty in front of me? You are rogues. Don't you understand that no one wants you to be here? I think it's best for you three to leave."

"We completely agree with you, Lisa. Open the door, and let us out. To ensure we leave, you should probably escort us all the way to the front gate. I swear to you that if you do that for us, you will never see us again," Brenna replied to me. She seemed sincere, but I just can't tell. I narrowed my eyes at her. "Brenna, are you trying to trick me? What is your plan here? I don't have the keys to unlock the cell. I couldn't let you out if I wanted to. Why are you acting like you don't want to be here? I know for a fact that Cara, here, has been trying to seduce Paxton for years now. So don't act like you don't want to be here. I don't believe any of you," I berated them. They are clearly lying. I know they wanted to stay here. I don't know who they think they are trying to fool, but I am not going to fall for it.

"I have never in my life attempted to seduce Paxton, Lisa. I have never shown any interest in him or flirted with him, you know that. I have a mate, one that I would like to get back to. I agree that you should not have to share Paxton with anyone. Let us out of here, Lisa. I know that you don't want us to be here, and I can assure you that we don't want to be here either. I don't care if you believe me or not, but it is the truth. Last night, we were forceable taken from our pack. If we are not returned, Kamaria may face a war that you cannot win. Black Adder will not come alone. They will have help from several other packs. As Luna, you can prevent this war from happening. Take us to the gate, now, before Paxton and his men show up. Once they get here, it will be too late," Cara told me.

I almost believe her, but I do not have the key to unlock their cell, even if I want to let them out. I can see by their expressions that they were sincere. But I am just the Luna in name only. I know that if what Paul told me was correct, Paxton would be showing up here any minute. I wished I could get them out of here. Now that I think about it, Paxton was at Black Adder a few weeks ago. He left our pack again yesterday.

I glanced back at them again and saw they were dirty and hungry. Their dresses, which were probably beautiful when they put them on, were now ruined. They looked scared now that I was looking more closely at them. Shit what if they are telling the truth? Would Paxton's lust for Cara be enough for him to risk all of our lives? Surely he wouldn't be that reckless? I looked at them again and saw they all had marks on their necks. This isn't good. Would their mates have enough pull to actually risk a war between our packs? Even Cara had a mark, even if it was smaller and lighter than her sisters'.

"Lisa, you know Cara told you the truth. She has never been interested in Paxton. All we wanted was to find our mates, and we have. You would save many of your pack members if you just let us go. Please, just listen to what we are saying. Take your blinders off and honestly think about it. Who was pursuing who? It was never Cara chasing Paxton, and you know that. In your heart, you know Paxton has always wanted Cara. She didn't do anything to you; it was all Paxton. You knew when he announced that he would pick someone to bear his pups. We all knew who the candidate was going to be. Please don't allow him to force himself on her," Luna humbly asked.

Luna always let Brenna be the leader of the sisters. Now, she was stepping forward and setting me straight. She was the one who always wore a smile, and the whole pack loved her. They would accept her and Brenna back in a heartbeat. It might be best for me to help them get out of here. Paxton might get mad, but he has already threatened to take my title away anyway. What else could he do to me? I believe the pack would stand behind me in this. What choice did I have? I needed Cara to leave to even try to hold my spot.

"Lisa, I also wanted to warn you. Do not leave the packhouse. Paxton has brought back the two female vampires that helped him to abduct us. They have already killed one person for him. I heard him discussing having them kill another. I have to assume it is you that he is targeting. Do not come out at night. Warn the pack. These vampires cannot be trusted. They are telling him that they will hunt outside the pack, but I know they won't. Be careful. They are dangerous," Cara told me.

A shudder ran through me. Just this morning I had a surprise text from Paxton that he sent me after midnight. He had asked me to meet him and have a moonlight walk with him tonight. I thought it was a romantic gesture and that he wanted to try to work things out again. I was so happy when I read it. Now I know that he isn't trying to give me another chance. He has never asked me out on a moonlight walk before. Even when things were good between us. That fucking bastard was trying to kill me. How could he hate me enough to want me to die like that? I don't know exactly when I started shaking in fear, but the threat against me was terrifying. Does Paxton hate me that much? I felt a hand reach out to hold my hand. I looked up and blurrily saw Cara trying to calm me as my tears fell like rain. I had cared for Paxton all these years, and he still showed the same lack of care he always had for me. I knew what I had to do. "I will go get the keys," I told them as I hurriedly turned to go find them and immediately bumped into a hard chest with my first step.

"Who are you to free them, Lisa? They are none of your concern. I worked way too hard to get them here. I will never allow them to leave," Paxton told me.
