"Mr. Bowles!"

Isla grabbed his hand, which Willy turned around and pushed away gently, surprisingly didn't blow a fuse.

"Don't waste your time on me. Even without Yesmine, I still won't choose you! I don't want to make things too ugly with your family, but I'm not afraid of it either. Do you get me?" Isla felt utterly defeated, her nose scrunched up into a ball. "Why? What does she have that I don't? I'm even younger and prettier than her!"

"No reason! Isla, if looks are all it takes, there are plenty younger and prettier than you! It'll all make sense when you're older! Keep my words in mind. I won't be so nice next time!" With that said, Willy headed out!

He drove straight to Yesmine's mansion only to be dropped a bomb. "What did you say?"

She had gone traveling?! The last piece of news he got about her was that she returned home. It had only been a couple of hours, for heaven's sake!

"Miss Luther said she needs a break and wants to go on a road trip, see the world. Then she left!"

Yeah, right! She was obviously hiding from him!

He pulled his phone out and passed the butler, charging into the mansion.

"Mr. Bowles, you can't do this..."

Despite his words, Hart didn't try and stop Willy. Running upstairs, Willy saw that there were signs of people staying when he got to her room. It was empty right then, the luggage was out, but they weren't taken away. The call connected then, and he received a reply in no time.

"Sorry, Mr. Bowels. We've been keeping our eyes on her. She had indeed driven out. We thought she had gone out for dinner, so we waited at the mall entrance... In the end, we lost her. It was the same car, but the license plate had changed! We're still looking; she probably hasn't gone far!" "You bunch of good-for-nothings!"

Livid, he ended the call. She had long made plans for this! Despite his fury, it had also occurred to him this would happen.

Turning around, he dashed out as he searched for Lexx's number but called Elijah instead in the end. Elijah had just received Lauren's email then, still open, every word bolded.

"Why are you looking for Tevye?"

He had just gotten Willy's call, and she had already come warning? What in the world were these two trying?

"Questions later! Where is she, Elijah? I want to see her immediately, this instance! You can get to her, can't you?" Elijah frowned slightly, his gaze still on the monitor. "Another word, and that's it between us. I won't save you from your mom ever again..."

Knocking his head, he mumbled.

"I'm quite busy lately. It's been some time since I saw her. Looking at the time, she's either in the office or at home! Most probably the latter. Call her and check her house!" "Would I still call you if I know where she is? Elijah, are you hiding something from me? Is she at your place?"

Elijah didn't know how to feel anymore, completely troubled. "Then do you want to come over and take a look at it yourself? Maybe you want to try asking my mom?"

Who'd dare to call the Dragons Gang's second-in-command for such trivial matters? Even her own son dared not talk to her about such private matters lest he didn't mind his mother's pressing questions.

Similarly, Willy also didn't know what to do. It only then struck him when he calmed down a little that she probably wouldn't stay and wait for him to get even with her when she wasn't afraid of her Luther identity being disclosed. She very likely drove and even left her luggage here because she was afraid he'd get suspicious and even track her down!

Just how much did she consider? How badly did she want to break free from his control?

He unconsciously tightened his grip as he changed the topic. "Did you know she had another name, Lauren Heady?"

Stumped for a split second, Elijah had a good idea of the big picture.

"Yesmine is her birth name, Laurie

was her nickname growing up, as for Tevye, well, you know it's her stage name. How should I put this... This involves the elders' love lives. I can't tell you exactly who's right or wrong,

อน I

but Laurie lost her mother at a young age, and she had always resented her father. So the first thing she did after reaching legal age was to detach from the Luther family and change her last name to beady, her mother's maiden name. So barely any outsiders know she was a Luther. My uncle, her father, was livid about this, and they ended up in a rough relationship! The thing was done arduously as well, having gone through some special connections. Plus, the network wasn't as

convenient then as now. So she has always had two legal identities!"

Closing his eyes, their first meeting in prison came to his mind. Her words seemed to be, "Do you know who I am?"

He thought she was only questioning if he got the wrong person back then. Come to think of it, she was subconsciously using her Luther identity to warn him, wasn't she? Even if she rejected her parentage, she didn't shy away from using it to protect herself during critical times!

Like back then, like now!

She had always been bright! Though it might take her a second or two to process sometimes, her intelligence would be unparalleled when it dawned on her.

He figured Lauren definitely hadn't said much to Elijah, or he wouldn't be unbothered when such a major incident had happened. They'd have a drink or two every now and then in the past few years, for heaven's sake! Seeing that he wouldn't get anything from Elijah, Willy hung up.

"Got it!"

"Thanks!"

Following that, he called Lexx and used every means to track her down.

And he never stopped in the past one month-plus.

He wasn't as panicked as before, though. He believed he could find her no matter how long it took because her root was right here in Casterwich City!

Inside his office, Willy felt baffled as he read the search reports. Why in the world couldn't he find her?

The car was moving? Surveillance footage caught it too! But how did she disappear into thin air after the car stopped in Pyra City? Where in the world went wrong? Her phone GPS tracking showed that it was in the mansion? No phone, no car, but no matter what she did, change her number, change her card, as long as she wanted to survive, she'd have to use her ID, and he'd be able to track it!

How could there be nothing?

Inexplicably frustrated, he got up and suddenly remembered Hawkey went for a checkup that day. With that, he grabbed his car keys and headed out. He was very much still absent-minded even after retrieving his eagle. As he stopped in front of the red light, he saw the traffic up ahead was pretty much a standstill. Taking a closer look, he realized the children were getting off kindergarten, and tons of luxury cars parked on the road as the security guards policed. It was more chaotic than a market.

"How did I end up on this road?"
