Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia) -
Chapter 1199
But that couldn't be it!
She had seen Lauren's ID before. Wasn't it Yesmine Luter? She said her childhood name was Lauren, so many used to call her Laurie. But her name on the ID was Yesmine. As many celebrities use a stage name, not many would ask about their actual name, so she followed how others went by their name. But Lauren's stage name wasn't Lauren Heady but Tevye!
What?
Millie grew confused that instant, wondering if they had the wrong person or that they got the wrong name!
Judging by the looks of things, they knew this Lauren even if they weren't acquainted. But her Lauren obviously didn't know them and was even super curious about Master Bowels!
As she straightened her thought, she overruled the possibility by default.
At the same time, because of the experience and incident that night, Willy left a horrible impression on her!
The two of them caught her subtle pause, and Willy asked anxiously once more. "It's coming back to you now, isn't it? That woman, wearing a red dress, sitting next to you."
He wasn't mistaken! They were definitely close, judging from the way they talked!
But how come she didn't have her contact?
But sure enough!
Millie rolled her eyes, wanting badly to ignore him. But seeing how they surrounded her and how the nightclub manager kissed up to them, she knew she had nowhere to hide.
"You mean Tevey? But she's not Lauren Heady. Her actual name is Yesmine Luther, and she's a voice artist. Haven't you guys watched the hit show Legend of Leina? She's the voice artist for the female lead, Leina Hesher..." Millie's words were like a hammer smashing ruthlessly on his fragile heart, shattering his dream into dust, and his face balanced in an instant.
"Te... Tevye?"
A voice artist?
Lauren specialized in chemistry. She was the famous 'Belle of Chemical Engineering'. These were two completely different professions. Plus, with evidence to prove, his hope shattered that instant.
What was most painful in this world wasn't not seeing the end but seeing a doomed end. Receiving a heavy blow, Willy slumped to the ground as though someone had pulled his skeleton out of his body. Could it be that he was really seeing things?
He couldn't help doubting right then if he was beginning to hallucinate from missing her badly or that he was really drunk.
Rubbing his aching temple, Willy was utterly despondent.
Carson couldn't say anything but only sighed, supporting him with one hand.
In the end, they were either livid with rage or a total mess when the three left the nightclub.
Meanwhile, Lauren spaced out for a long time as she looked at her baby girl's beautiful, nearly identical little face when she returned home.
The following day, Willy was woken up by a glaring bright light. Climbing up as he shielded his eyes with his hand, he moaned and roared, feeling as though someone had shoved rocks into his head, excruciatingly painful. "Who is it? Who said you could come in?"
How unruly! Did they think they could come into his room as they pleased?
Made uncomfortable by the glaring light, Willy squinted and ordered, "Draw the curtains!"
Walking up to him slowly, Venessa poked his head. "Are you going to throw me out next?"
Hearing the familiar voice, he closed his eyes and flopped back onto the bed straight but spoke with a gentler tone. "Oh, it's you, Mom... Why didn't you call?"
Barging into his room again. He wasn't a child anymore, okay?
Though he thought so, he was so uncomfortable that he didn't have the energy to argue. Instinctively, he grabbed the pillow next to his and covered half his head.
The smell of alcohol filled the room. Seeing her decadent son, Vanessa was heartbroken. He was never like this, no matter what happened in the past, but in the three times she visited in the past year, she caught him suffering a hangover twice.
Recalling what occasion the day before was, she couldn't help sighing. She should've known.
However, what surprised her was
how serious he took this relationship when he had always been tepid toward women and could always let things go! It had been a year since Lauren's departure, yet she could still dearly feel his dejectionb Vanessa felt bad as well, thinking of poor Lauren and that little one, somewhat remorseful of her past obstruction.
"Will you answer my call? It's already nine! Your dad's not around, and my phone won't switch on for some reason. What am I supposed to do if I don't come and ask for your help? How dare I simply hand my phone to some stranger? Won't it be bad if something leaked?"
Vanessa found herself a high-sounding excuse as she sat on the edge of his bed. "C'mon, Willy, get up and check it for me, and you can go back to sleep. I have a rendezvous with my girl friends in the afternoon!" Vanessa's heart ached, nudging him. "Fine, sleep, but change your clothes, will you? Don't you feel uncomfortable sleeping in a suit?"
She didn't need to guess to know he was heartbroken last night; or knowing him, he would never go to bed without a change of clothes, or at least remove his suit, let alone be so depressed in the middle of the day. Love hurt the most, and losing two of them at once gave a massive blow to their family!
Right then, her heart wrenched, but she dared not say a word.
Her words inadvertently woke Willy up; the messy memory gradually straightened. Opening his eyes, he saw his already wrinkled clothes and had a whiff of a strange feminine fragrance mixed in the alcoholic air. Last night...
Tevye!
He sprang right up and wiped his face hard as her name popped up in his mind. It wasn't a dream!
Vanessa backed away, started by his sudden action. "You alright, son?"
Willy seemed to have come back to life as he looked up. "I'm okay. Sorry for making you worry! I'll drink less next time!"
Tevye was a voice actor! Lauren was an orphan, and her voice was unlike any other. He refused to believe there could be someone that much alike. He had to find out!
Perhaps, it would lead him to her! Fueled with a passion, Willy was inexplicably excited.
Later, he took Vanessa's phone, took the SIM card out, put it back in, and changed it. After repeating the process twice, the phone was back to normal.
"Something's probably off with the SIM card. I'll take you to get it changed. Worst comes to worst; we'll get a new phone. It's no big deal!"
"Oh..."
Putting her attention on him, she thought his jumpiness and sensibility were very unusual. She decided right then to arrange a blind date for him and help him walk out of his misery as soon as possible!
