Alex's

POV.

As I sat there with my wife, Abby, trying to console her, my assistant, King, burst into the room with a sense of urgency. "Sir!! We have a situation.." he announced, interrupting our conversation.

I could tell that Abby was still upset about her condition. Despite my efforts to comfort her, she seemed to be fixated on the fact that she would be paralyzed for a while. So when King came in, I was grateful for the distraction. But the look on his face and the tone of his voice immediately put me on edge. "Speak!! What is wrong?" I demanded, feeling confused and anxious.

King hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting between me and Abby, who was still lying in bed. It was clear that he was afraid to tell me something. I could feel my heart racing as I waited for him to speak.

I turned to Abby and noticed that she seemed focused on him. It occurred to me that she was curious about why he had come into the room.

I let out a heavy sigh and walked over to her. Placing my hand on her shoulder and looking into her eyes, I forced a smile onto my lips. "We have some business to discuss, Abby, but I promise to be back soon enough to be with you. Okay?" I said, making a promise to her.

But Abby wasn't satisfied with my explanation. "But... can't business be discussed here?" she asked, a frown appearing on her face. "It's not like I'm not family with you, Alex. Or do you see me as a stranger?"

Her words caught me off guard. I realised that I had been so preoccupied with the situation about Jack that I had neglected to include her in my plans. It was true that she was my wife and an important part of my life, and I didn't want her to feel left out or unimportant.

"What? A stranger? How could you even think about such, Abby? You are no stranger to me. You are my wife," I said, trying to reassure her.

I held her hand in a gentle grip, hoping to soothe her worries. "You are my own belonging, Abby, and that is all that matters, okay?" I said firmly. But I knew I needed to speak with the King in private, without any distractions or outside influences. Before leaving the room, I bent down to her face and left a gentle and loving kiss on her forehead. It was a small gesture, but I hoped it would calm her for a moment.

Despite my efforts, I could tell that Abby was still sad about the fact that we were leaving the room to go talk outside. I hated to see her upset, but I knew that it was important to have a private conversation with the King about our plans.

For now, my focus was on the matter at hand. I needed to speak with King about our next steps and come up with a plan that would benefit both parties and my wife. It was a daunting task, but I was ready to face it head-on, with Abby by my side every step of the way.

"Let's go!" I commanded the Assistant King, who immediately led the way out of the room. I didn't turn back to look at Abby, knowing that she must have been feeling sad about our abrupt departure.

As we hurried down the hospital's hallway, the King started speaking as soon as we were out of earshot. "Sir!!" he called out, using his formal address for me.

"Can you stop addressing me as Sir and tell me what you have under your sleeves?" I urged, not wanting to waste any time on formalities.

"I'm sorry about that, but we've found Jack!" the King divulged, and my heart leaped with excitement.

"Jack! Are you certain he's the one?" I asked, trying to be sure of his assertions. Finding Jack would be a huge breakthrough for us, and I didn't want to get my hopes up if it wasn't him.

"Yes, Sir! We've confirmed his identity through his fingerprints and dental records. He's being held in a private hospital, and we have already dispatched a team to bring him here," the King explained.

I couldn't contain my excitement. It was a sign that our luck was finally turning, and we were one step closer to achieving our goals.

"But...bringing him here will be of no use, Assistant King. Let him be for now...we'll just watch him!" I ordered firmly, my voice commanding attention.

"Yes sir!" King bowed his head to the ground obediently, but I could sense his unease. And then, it hit me. Why was the man we were discussing even at the hospital in the first place?.

"What is he doing at the hospital again?" I asked, my mind racing with possibilities. I couldn't afford to overlook any detail when it came to this man, who had caused me and my family so much pain.

"We are not certain but I think he just wants to live a comfortable..." Assistant King trailed off, but his words were enough to set me off.

"What!!?? What the fuck did you just say?" I shouted, my fists clenched. "Comfortable? After doing this to my wife?" My voice grew louder with every word. "He must pay for all his sins and no matter what, I'll make sure I make him see hell right before his face before he dies!!"

My mind was made up. This man would not be allowed to live comfortably while my family suffered. I knew that I had to take action, and I would stop at nothing to ensure that justice was served.

My blood boiled with rage as I stormed out of the hallway, leaving Assistant King standing there, looking confused and bewildered.

I could tell that he was taken aback by my sudden change in demeanour, and I didn't blame him. One moment, I was happy that he had seen Jack, and the next, I was a furious husband, agitated about my wife's predicament.

As I walked down to Abby's room, my mind was consumed with thoughts of revenge. "I will make him pay!" I muttered to myself, my voice laced with anger and determination.

I knew that I couldn't let this man get away with what he had done to my wife. He had caused her so much pain and suffering, and he needed to pay for his crimes.

I continued walking, lost in thought, until I finally reached the exit. As I stepped outside into Abby's room Line, I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.

I knew that I couldn't act impulsively; I needed to come up with a plan if I was going to make this man pay for his actions.

But one thing was for sure: I would not rest until justice was served. My wife deserved nothing less, and I was determined to make sure that the man who had caused her so much pain would face the consequences of his actions.

I made my way down the hall and soon arrived at Abby's door. I turned the doorknob and walked into her room, but the sight that greeted me was not a welcoming one. Abby's face was contorted into a deep frown, a clear indication of her anger and sadness. "Hey...I'm back just as I promised," I said, hoping to bring a smile to her face. I knew that I couldn't let her see my true emotions, as it might cause her to worry even more. But as I stood there, I could sense her suspicion, and I knew that she was aware that I had spoken to my assistant before coming to see her.

"Abby?" I called out softly, walking over to her bedside. But as I approached, I could see that she wasn't going to talk to me. Her face turned away from mine, and it was clear that my presence was not pleasing to her like it used to be.

I sighed inwardly, feeling the weight of my guilt and shame. I knew that I had let my anger and desire for revenge consume me, and it had affected my relationship with my wife. I needed to find a way to make things right and to earn back her trust and love. But for now, all I could do was stand there, watching as Abby lay in her hospital bed, her face twisted in pain and sadness.

I took a deep breath and approached her bedside, reaching out to take her hand. "I'm sorry, Abby, but..." I began, but she cut me off before I could finish.

"You're always sorry, Alex," she said, her voice filled with frustration. "All I wanted to know was what you were up to, but instead of telling me, you left. Please, don't apologise if you don't mean it."

I felt a pang of guilt in my chest at her words. She was right; I had been saying sorry a lot lately, but my actions didn't always match my words. "I'm really sorry, Abby, trust me," I said, my voice sincere. "I never meant for any of this to happen. I just need to do what's right for myself and my wife."

"Even if it means taking my own life..." I added but I was sure she didn't understand my words.

I tightened my grip on her hand, hoping to convey my sincerity through my touch. I knew that I had a lot of work to do if I wanted to earn back her trust, but for now, I just wanted her to know that I was truly sorry for my actions.
