After the Eight Years of Love I Gave Up -
Chapter 79
Love Story - Chapter 4
I had seen her, about a year ago.
Because Nico and I had some success in our startup, we donated a sum of money to our alma mater, A University, during its centennial celebration to sponsor underprivileged college students.
That girl had come on stage as a representative to thank us, and later performed in the evening gala.
Unlike others who chose youthful, graceful songs and dances, she and another student performed a comedic skit that required intentionally acting silly, completely different from the shy and delicate image she had given during the day. The performance was successful, with the audience below the stage roaring with laughter.
I saw Nico watching intently, so I teased him on purpose:
"Youth is truly invincible. Darling, what do you think of this performance? Do you like it?"
At the time, he had a look of appreciation in his eyes, but criticized verbally: "How is this like a girl? She doesn't act like a girl at all."
My best friend Daisy was also there, laughing so hard she was crying:
"He likes it alright, look how intently he's watching."
"You know what, Emily, this girl is quirky and lively, she's got a bit of your flair from back in the day."
"She looks quiet and gentle, but she's actually a wild one."
I looked at the photo on the bookshelf of me, Nico, and the sponsored girl. She was the one from the WhatsApp.
