Within a couple of days, rumors started spreading wildly in our social circle.

Cassius was pursuing a sophomore girl from the performing arts academy. A young, delicate, and naive girl.

His pursuit was always grand and shocking.

Just like when he pursued me years ago, he wanted to announce it to the world, Lavishly showering her with houses, cars, and jewelry as he pleased The young girl had never experienced such extravagance and fell for him in just a few days.

At a gathering organized by friends, Cassius brought her along directly.

As soon as they entered, everyone fell silent.

Several of the girls who were close to me looked at me with concern.

I smiled, "Why did everyone stop talking? Why are you all looking at me?"

Cassius sat down with his arm around the girl, finally looking at me properly, "Everly, since we have this opportunity today, I'll just say it outright." "Alright, go ahead."

"These years of on-and-off have been quite meaningless, and our feelings have long faded."

I gripped my hands tightly, the ring on my middle finger digging deep into my flesh, Yet I seemed unable to feel the pain.

"Lyra is young and pure. I really like her and don't want to hurt her."

Cassius stroked the girl's hair, "I need to give her a proper status."

I nodded lightly, "I see."

"We'll still be friends in the future. If you ever need any help, as long as you're in New York, you can still come to me."

"Better not," I said with a light laugh as I stood up. "Since we've broken up, let's make it clear. No need to give this young lady any misunderstandings." Cassius raised his eyebrows slightly in surprise, then after a moment said, "Wel."

"Wel then, you all enjoy your gathering. I'll head back first."

"Want the driver to take you?"

"No need, I'll just take a cab."

As I walked out of the room and was about to close the door, I heard someone ask, "How long do you think Everly will hold out this time?" "Two days?"

"She seems genuinely angry this time, so I'll bet a week."

Cassius glanced at the not-quite-closed door and smiled coldly, "She'll be back crying within three days."

"It's been like this for so many years, really tiresome to watch."

"True, how could Everly live without you? Everyone knows she loves you to the point of madness..."

I laughed self-mockingly and clutched my handbag, quickly walking towards the elevator.
