After the Eight Years of Love I Gave Up -
Chapter 24
Book 3- Chapter 3
Looking at this suddenly unfamiliar best friend in front of me, I gently shook my head.
"It's nothing, just had a little argument with Ryker."
Hearing this, Sage laughed and hugged me: "Oh my, I thought something serious had happened! You know, you've been spoiled by Ryker. Actually, your Mr. Stone is already a rare good husband. You shouldn't be too willful." "Let me tell you, if it were someone else's husband, I would have snatched him away long ago!"
A sharp pain shot through my chest. How could I have never suspected such blatant words all these years?
Why have I trusted them so much for so many years?
Was I really that stupid?
I was pulled to sit down by Sage, and it took a while before I calmed my emotions.
I looked at her missing earring and asked in a low voice.
"Where's your earring? Why are you only wearing one?"
Sage unconsciously touched her ear, a flash of panic crossing her eyes: "Oh, it was still there this morning. I might have lost it while shopping with a friend."
No wonder, no wonder Ryker suddenly said he had urgent business at the company this morning.
So that dirty thing was used in the car this morning.
A wave of nausea hit my chest, and I almost threw up.
"I'm not feeling well, I'm going home first."
Seeing my pale face, Sage didn't ask much, just nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay, we'll meet another day. You go rest well."
I didn't wait for her to finish speaking and fled from the café like I was escaping.
The midnight wind chilled me to the bone.
I suddenly remembered that the dashboard camera in Ryker's car was connected to my phone backend.
Standing on the street, I opened the APP with trembling hands and pulled up this morning's video.
Sure enough, after playing for a while, Sage's familiar voice came through.
"Why are you so late? Don't you miss me?"
Then came Ryker's voice, seemingly a bit impatient.
"Haven't I told you before, don't call me when I'm at home? Lark can unlock my phone, do you know what the consequences would be if she answered?"
"Lark, Lark! Your mouth is full of Lark! If you love her so much, why do you sleep with me?!"
This was followed by a moment of silence.
After that, Sage suddenly changed her attitude: "Alright, I didn't call you out to argue..."
"Ryker, it's been so long since I've seen you, do you know how much I miss you?"
"I dream of you every night, I want to rush to your house to find you, but I've held back."
"Because I care about you, I'm afraid you'll be upset..."
"I don't care about status or relationship, I just want you!"
What followed were ambiguous watery sounds and shameful sounds of male and female entanglement.
Sweet moans filled the entire video, and that voice that had once whispered countless sweet nothings in my ear was now saying unspeakably vulgar things to another woman. "Sage, my Sage..."
"Only with you can I feel so happy."
"Lark is like a piece of jade, so fragile that she seems like she might break at any moment."
"You're different, you can satisfy all my desires."
Every word of their conversation was like a knife, stabbing mercilessly into my heart.
I finally covered my chest and couldn't help but vomit, kneeling on the ground in a mess. Why?
Why did this happen to me?
Why did they do this to me?
The pain of being torn apart made me wish I could die right away.
But I couldn't cry out no matter what. I kept gasping for air, unable to breathe.
Just when I thought I was going to die in this midnight, a car suddenly braked beside me.
A person quickly ran down from the car and scooped me up into his arms.
The man's voice was very familiar, filled with anxiety: "Lark, breathe, don't be afraid, breathe!"
